During the spring semester of 2007 the activities concentrate on the Greek-Italian region. No decision has been taken on the location of the conference yet.
The combined Greek/Italian showcase workshops intent to produce economic facts regarding mobilty expenditure at the local level. These facts should help to raise citizens' awareness about cost/benefits, subsides and hidden costs of private mobilty, figures of direct/indirect expenditure, etc.. Such an instrument can become part of the Envirionmental Budget and/or the Traffic Plan. In this way it can be used to evaluate mobilty policies: their effectiveness, future choices and their impacts on local communities. Next to that the possibilities for transforming regional railway branches in a modern tram-train line crossing the city centre will be explored.
The topics of the conference still have to be determined. They will relate to the showcase workshops.
The Connected Cities magazine becomes available as hardcopy and download at the time of the conference.
